Morgan Stimpson
I was born in Chicago, raised in Phoenix and have spent the last half of my life up in Seattle. I currently attend Western Washington University getting a degree in Computer Science and minoring in Mathematics, Communications and soon Web Development.
What do I do?
Currently I am a Resident Advisor for Western Washington University in the community Buchanan Towers. I advise a total 50 residents and Buchanan Towers Hall Council, a group of dedicated students who want to serve and better there community.
What do I want to do?
My goal is to become a software developer at places such as Microsoft, Amazon or Google. I have had a long interest in Computer Science and this field is constantly growing! With such an ever expanding field it's incredibly exciting to get my name out there and expand on my knowledge of computer science!

By far my favorite language I have learned has been Java. It is an incredibly intuitive language that anyone can learn while being at the same time a strong and powerful tool.
Why am I doing this?
A personal website is incredibly important to have! As a Computer Science major, my whole career is focused on being online and having a presence here. To achieve this, making a website is incredibly important to have.
How did I learn to do this?
I have been working on HTML/CSS for a year before taking my first Web Development class. My first class in this field was a year ago, but have taken many more classes since then. I have found this field of Computer Science incredibly exciting because it allows me to mix both my creative side along with my analytical/methodical side that I have when it comes to writing code and developing a great site.

This project was for a client named Malik. What made this project interesting for me was that this was my first attempt at creating a single page website design. By taking my usual mutli-page design and breaking it down into one page was incredibly fun to create!

CSCI 101
This was my first experience with web Development. Having a background in Computer Science, it made this class very exciting for me to take part of. My final project I made, I had worked with a group four people. My role in the group was to make the skeleton HTML and make sure that when we took all our pieces of the web site and put them together that they had the same consistency.

CSCI 202
This is my second course on web development. In this course we walked through how to create a dynamic website. We used Bootstrap, SQL, PHP and other languages to create a website that was dynamic and could be accessed from a server that Western Hosted!

This is my current project that I have been working on. It has been incredibly fun to do because I have full control of all creative parts of this page. I decided on a single page design because I have really enjoyed the freedom I have been given with this. The biggest part of this project I have enjoyed is making this dynamic and accessible from any screen size by using Bootstrap to achieve that!

Resident Advisor
Where to begin, I worked for Western Washington University as a Resident Advisor for the community of Buchanan Towers during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic year. during my tenure in this position I have learned about on how to be a leader and communicate in a high stress environsments.
Resident Advisers and Community Advisers play an important role in community development, developing relationships, providing general support, and in helping to achieve the mission of University Residences. The RA and CA position requires ongoing communication with the Resident Director and Assistant Resident Director, departmental staff and students, as well as participation in ongoing training and development.Desk Attendant
For two summers in high school I worked at a law firm and rental agency called Dimension Law & Realestate my time with this company I spent in two different positions.

- During my sophomore year of high-school I spent my time as a Intern. In this role my job was to do back-end work. This included drafting out emails to tenants, organizing and creating systems to keep all of the tenants information in order.

Front Desk Attendant;
- In this position my job was to call tenants of the company, develop schedules for my boss and keep tenant information organized.
Hall Council Advisor
This has been one of my favorite positions to have held. In my role I worked with residents of Buchanan Towers to develop events that served the community. In this position I was there to discuss options that this group of leaders could do to create a welcoming and inclusive community that would be sustainable for the whole year.

As a small business owner, every interaction with a customer could determine if I get a job or not. That is why when I work with a customer, my top priority is making their imagination a reality. I am able to achieve this by setting clear tasks for myself and getting them approved by the customer to make sure that the direction I am going in is how the customer wants to present themselves.
Work Ethic
Having a strong work ethic is very important in my role as a small business owner. By keeping my work and interactions with my customers professional, creates a great middle ground for us to interact in and create mutual respect for both parties. What also allows me to keep up my work ethic is by creating a highly organized routine of how I get my work done. This routine allows me to establish with my customers when they should expect their results on their website that I am creating for them.
Communication Skills
One of the most important pieces of being a businessman or an entrepreneur, is being able to communicate and work with those around you. I am able to keep a create flow of communication to my customers by giving updates on how their website is coming along, showing the progress that I have made on their domain, and clarifying what I am currently working on. This form of communication allows me to establish goals with myself and the customer on how to best go about reaching their dream website. If there ever does come a point where I have veered of track, I quickly will establish to the customer what I doing and ask if that is a part of their imagined goal.
