Community Involvement/Volunteer Work

Student Representative to Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation Board, 2014-2017
The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation (SVSF) raises over $100,000 each year to funding classroom grants, district initiatives, and professional development to enrich the educational experience for all students in the Snoqualmie Valley.
As a student representative on the board, I attended monthly meetings to provide student voice for the foundation’s various grants and initiatives, and participated in various fundraisers and community events. I was the co-emcee at the Foundation’s luncheon two years in a row, which is their biggest annual fundraiser. I also organized the annual community movie event for all three years.

Volunteer at Purrfect Pals, 2015-2017
Purrfect Pals is a nonprofit organization that works towards giving homeless cats a new family and a new and safe home. It is a no-kill shelter which takes in and takes care of cats whose only options is to be placed in an overcrowded shelter with high euthanasia rates. I volunteer with Purrfect Pals because I care about animals safety and value their lives as much as humans. I have three rescue cats of my own. After seeing how I much could help them and how much joy they bring to my life, I decided to volunteer to help more cats. I go to the local Purrfect Pals outlet at Petco two hours/week to nurture, play with, and care for the cats, and to supervise visitor interactions with the goal of finding a loving owner to adopt them and give them a new forever home.
