About me
I was born in Redding California, but moved to the Evergreen State of Washington around middle school and fell in love with the sharp and lively greenery. I had always loved the logic of math even when I was in elementary school and I always had a creative kick.
In the end, I attended a middle school/high schol that put a value in the arts: Vancouver School of Arts and Academics(VSAA). While there I crafted an admiration for combining math, and science with the full range of the arts, including dance, film, and music. Before I graduated I focused in film, being intrigued by recording arts and the labor that went into editing. Amongst growing up in this environment, I played around with a variety of creative outlets, like cosplay, and graphic design vectors.
It wasn't until college that I would touch the subject of Computer Science. Once I went off to college, attending Western Washington University I was hesitant to fully commit to a major until I had tried it. My step-dad pushed me to try Computer Science, but I refused t commit until I had tried it for myself. However, after finally being able to take a class in the major, I fell in love with the satisfaction and success that comes with successful code.
For me, there is a thrill in being able to explain what I am doing to all sorts of people, and I have communcation skills from my time in retail that allow me to listen and talk in a percise manner so that anyone can understand the purpose.
Since commiting to the major and taking a minor in math, I have found that computer science is a proper outlet for all parts of myself. The human-centered interation class that I took recently has shown me the perfect bridge between the user and technology
I have also had a few jobs and internships that have allowed me to explore this bridge, such as my Restek Internship where I assisted students on campus of Western Washington University in connecting to the wi-fi and getting their techonology hooked up. I also have worked in retail at Ross for the past two summers, allowing me to see where I thrive as a team member and being able to communciate and assist.
