Saltanic Records was founded in 1956
by Pierre Leblanc and Madeleine Deschamps.
The label started off small, with just local
acts made up of the founder's associates.
Demand for the music from Saltanic surged in
1983 after a succesful marketing campaign boosted
their profile to the national level. Tensions between
the founders began to surface as they disagreed
on what asthetic their brand should inhabit.
Leblanc tragically passed away in 2001.
