I spent four days in Paris. My airbnb was in Le Marais neighborhood, but each day I got out and explored other parts of the city. Using the metro was easy and convenient, but I also walked a lot, sometimes up to 14 miles a day! I made the most of each day and squeezed as many activities and sights as I could, without draining all my energy. My favorite way to recharge was simply to sketch where ever I was.
So the adventure begins! I got some crêpes and settled into my airbnb, and after meeting up with the friends who would stay in Paris with me, we went to the Eiffel Tower and ended the night with a Seine river cruise.
"I am a tourist in Paris, I am from Russia and I do not have a lot of money to spend on souvenirs. I saw you drawing the building over there and I thought it was very good. I was wondering if you could draw something for me?"
Probably one of my favorite moments from Paris. I sat down in a little park and decided I could start sketching. After a while, I was about to pack up and head out, but I was happy to pass the sketch to Maksim.
This day, I spent a lot of my time in museums. I started at the Musée Delacroix. This museum was in Saint Germain-des-Près neighborhood, and was in Delacroix's apartment. I enjoyed spending time in the gardens behind the house as well.
At night, I went to the Louvre and had some time to a slice of what is exibited there. I visited the Greek and Roman statues, the Ancient Egyptian artifacts, French paintings (where I also saw more Delacroix), and the extra large paintings.
I got up early to catch a flight to my next destination: Berlin. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to spend a few days in Paris. I was able to practice my French, and was pleasantly surprised that I could understand most of what I heard. It was great to explore the city on my own and with new friends.
