Zurich was the final city I visited in the summer. I had never been to Switzerland before but enjoyed what we were able to see. Being able to see Swiss design in person was very interesting, and cool to see how well it fits in there and just how designed everything seems to be.
On our way to Zurich, we stopped at the Vitra design museum. It focused mostly on furniture design, but it was really neat to see all the products they make and the show rooms of their furniture. They also had other exhibits across their large campus of museums.
We visited the Zurich University of the Arts and got to meet some of the graphic design students going to school there. It was really neat to hear their perspectives and the types of projects they work on there.
We had a few more days full of visiting different firms. It is cool to see the type of design that goes on in Switzerland and how they compared to the firms we visited in Berlin.
That night, I went out and got authentic Swiss fondue. Delicious!
I took some time to explore the city of Zurich and I walked around the shops that were in the downtown area. I also walked a bit by the water and enjoyed the sights in that area.
I left very very early in the morning and caught a flight back home. My time in Zurich and Europe as a whole was very enjoyable and I definitely learned a lot about the field of graphic design, while enjoying traveling in new places with friends.
