Meeting Minutes

October 4th, 2017

Attendance:

4:00 pm Meeting convened

4:02 Emily describes SAA as an organization, reads mission statement, describes the Canadian-American Archival Conference

4:05 Emily suggests joining SAA officially, announces open club positions to be voted on (approximately a month from this date.)

4:10 Emily discusses venue for the conference, the possibility of a lack of venue and alternatives, as well as possible dates for the conference (around March 2nd or 9th.)

4:12 Angie describes what happens at the conference, as well as the concept of Networked Archives

4:17 Maria suggests speaking about globalization at the conference

4:19 Emily suggests making a google doc for the conference

4:21 Emily suggests Greg Bak as a speaker, as well as Kate Theimer and Wendy Duff

4:22 Emily and Tom talk about how the conference is advertised around campus, Maria suggests branching out

4:24 Ted Suggests Lucia Durante as a speaker, Interpares project being relevant to the conference theme, Emily also suggests Kim Christian

4:35 Ted announces further SAA opportunities, as well as Phi Alpha Theta conference

3:56 Caught up with current events, as well as Emily meeting with Chuck Hart within the week to discuss the venue

3:57 Emily suggests sending out e-mails to potential speakers to gauge interest in conference

Emily announces Elizabeth as co-coordinator, elections for next year’s positions to be held in spring, Emily also suggests first year students should shadow a second year student in a position they are interested in.

4:05 Emily recaps meeting with Chuck Hart, says VU not available for conference due to construction, and they are looking for an alternative. Emily also suggests updating the conference graphic
