Keeping Yourself And The Park Safe

We take safety seriously in Winter Park. It is a privilege for us to be able to enjoy our massive mountain, scenic views, and be among wildlife. In order to keep our park healthy and available to future visitors, please follow these general guidelines:
- Stay Away From Animals - They are wild! Please keep your distance (at least 100 yards) in order to avoid incident. They may seem friendly, but they are unpredictable, and more dangerous than they look.
- Ski Smart - Look uphill, give the right away, follow sign instructions, stop for patrol and slow down in crowded areas!
- Grab a Buddy - Safety in numbers! Travel in a pack so you have support when needed. At the VERY least, let someone know where you'll be, and set a time that you have to check in with them before, or else they send help.
Prohibited Actions Include...
- The possession or use of a firearm
- The possession or use of any drugs including alcohol, outside of designated drinking areas
- Interacting with wildlife
Back Country
It is required in Winter Park, that everyone who enters the back country have proper gear and training. If you have to ask what that is, you're not ready to enter the back country. Please check in with the patrol before you exit the ski area boundary. Every year, many lives are lost due to avalanches and hypothermia after getting lost in the deep wilderness of Winter Park.
Driving
Road conditions get very tricky, especially in the winter! We recommend a car with all wheel drive and chains, or good snow tires. Drive slow and give other vehicles plenty of space.
